Where TV and Home Theater QR Codes Are Located

TV and home theater QR codes appear on the retail box and sometimes on the back panel of the unit. Samsung TVs include a QR on the quick setup guide packaged with the TV and also on the back panel near the model sticker. LG TVs have a QR on the in-box guide. Sony places a QR on the quick start card. Soundbars and subwoofers from Sonos, Bose, and Yamaha typically include QR codes on the product information card inside the box. For OLED and QLED TVs, registering before the box is broken down for recycling is important because the box QR may be the most accessible registration path before the TV is wall-mounted or placed with cords behind it.

Smart TV Registration Through Account Setup

Most modern TVs from Samsung, LG, and Sony require account creation during initial setup to access streaming apps, smart features, and software updates. Samsung's SmartThings account, LG's ThinQ account, and Sony's Google TV account each serve as registration triggers when the TV is paired during first-use setup. For owners who skip account setup to start watching faster, the TV may be unregistered with the manufacturer's warranty system even though a brand account exists for streaming. QR scanning ensures warranty registration is complete independent of the smart TV account setup status.

Home Theater Component Registration

Home theater systems often consist of multiple components: a TV, a soundbar or AV receiver, a subwoofer, and potentially a streaming device. Each component has a different registration system and warranty term. Registering all components via QR scan at setup creates a complete home theater warranty record. Sonos requires account creation and device pairing through the Sonos app, which effectively auto-registers the speaker. Bose uses a similar app pairing flow. For non-app AV receivers from Denon, Marantz, and Yamaha, manual QR or web registration is needed.

TV and Audio Equipment Recalls

Television and home theater equipment recalls, while less frequent than some product categories, do occur for power supply fires, screen defects with heat risk, and audio equipment electrical faults. OLED panel burn-in is not a recall hazard, but power supply overheating in large panel TVs has been subject to CPSC actions. Registered TV and audio equipment owners receive direct recall notifications. For large-format TVs that are difficult to return or repair, knowing about a recall quickly enables owners to schedule a service visit or arrange a remedy before safety implications escalate.
