Serial Number Is Your Warranty Proof

John Deere, Husqvarna, Toro, Cub Cadet, Honda, and other major mower brands all validate warranty claims by serial number. The serial encodes the manufacture date and build configuration - it is the manufacturer's authoritative record, not your receipt.

Most mower retailers also send digital receipts at purchase. Check your email inbox for the brand name or retailer name - Home Depot, Lowe's, and brand-direct orders all send order confirmations that establish purchase date.

Finding the Serial Number on Your Mower

On push mowers (walk-behind), the serial number sticker is typically on the frame near the engine, on the underside of the deck, or on the engine block itself (if the engine is a separate brand like Briggs & Stratton). On riding mowers, check the frame near the operator seat, under the seat, or on the side of the engine housing.

Zero-turn mowers typically have the serial number on the main frame near the left rear wheel. Self-propelled mowers often have it on the lower frame rail above the rear wheels.

The serial number on your mower deck outlasts any paper receipt. Register once digitally and your warranty is protected for the full coverage period.

Bawte Consumer Guide

What Mower Warranties Cover

Standard push mower warranties: 2–3 years on the mower, 2-year on the engine. Riding mower warranties: typically 2–4 years parts and labor. Zero-turn mowers: 2–4 years depending on brand and commercial vs. residential use. Common covered failures include engine defects, transmission issues, deck blade spindle failures, and electrical system defects.
