Fitness equipment manufacturers are not consistent in where they place serial number stickers, but each category has common locations. Knowing where to look saves significant frustration during registration.

• Treadmills: Front stabilizer bar (floor-level, facing you), underneath the motor hood, or rear roller frame
• Stationary bikes (upright): Underside of the frame near the pedals, rear stabilizer, or console mounting post
• Stationary bikes (spin/Peloton-style): Underside of the frame near the water bottle holder or inside the front fork
• Ellipticals: Main frame near the floor, drive guard cover, or rear stabilizer bar
• Rowing machines: Under the seat rail, rear frame, or console base
• Weight benches: Main frame weld, underside of bench pad support, or leg frame

What the Serial Number Looks Like

Fitness equipment serial numbers are typically 8–16 characters combining letters and numbers. They are printed on a white or silver sticker, sometimes with a barcode above them. The label may also include the model number, manufacturing date, and country of origin.

Do not confuse the model number with the serial number. The model number (e.g., 'NTL17915' or 'PFEX71916') identifies the product line. The serial number is unique to your specific unit and is typically longer and more random-looking.

If You Cannot Find the Serial Number

If the sticker has worn off or is illegible, contact the brand's customer support with proof of purchase. Many manufacturers can look up the serial number from a purchase order or help you register by alternative means.

For older equipment purchased secondhand, the seller may have the original manual, which sometimes includes the serial number handwritten. Check inside any original documentation that came with the equipment.
