Ryobi, Black+Decker, Craftsman, and Stanley include QR codes on packaging and tools that register with a single scan. Home Depot and Lowe's kiosks offer point-of-purchase registration for Ryobi and Rigid tools.

QR Codes on DIY Tool Packaging

Most major DIY tool brands now include a QR code somewhere in the packaging. Ryobi places the QR on the inside flap of the retail box and in the quick-start guide. Black+Decker includes it on the back of the packaging and in the instruction manual. Craftsman (sold primarily at Lowe's) includes a QR in the tool manual that links directly to the Craftsman registration page. Scanning the QR pre-fills the registration form with the tool's model number, leaving only name, email, and purchase date. For tools purchased at a retailer where the receipt is in hand, the purchase date entry is a 10-second step. The entire registration process takes under 60 seconds with a QR code.

Ryobi Link App: QR and Bluetooth Registration Together

Ryobi ONE+ and ONE+ HP tools are registered through the Ryobi Link app, which supports both QR scanning and Bluetooth pairing depending on the tool model. For Bluetooth-equipped tools (Ryobi ONE+ HP brushless line), the Link app pairs the tool and registers it in a single step. For non-Bluetooth tools, the app allows QR code scanning from the tool's label to complete registration. The Link app is also a tool tracking platform: registered tools can be assigned to job sites, their last-seen Bluetooth location recorded, and theft reports filed through the app. Battery health tracking is included for registered 18V and 40V MAX batteries.
Ridgid's Lifetime Service Agreement covers free battery replacement forever. The QR code on the tool body is a 60-second shortcut to activating it within the 90-day window.

Ridgid and Home Depot Point-of-Sale Registration

Ridgid tools are sold exclusively through Home Depot, and Home Depot's checkout system can capture customer registration information at point of sale for Ridgid products. When you purchase a Ridgid tool with a Home Depot account, the purchase is sometimes pre-linked to your Ridgid registration account. Regardless of whether point-of-sale registration was completed, Ridgid owners should verify registration and activate the Lifetime Service Agreement (LSA) at ridgid.com/register within 90 days of purchase. The LSA covers free parts, service, and battery replacement for the life of the tool. It is the most comprehensive DIY tool warranty in the category and only activates through intentional registration.

Scan the QR During Unboxing or First Use

QR code is on the tool label, inside the box, or in the manual. One scan. Under 60 seconds. Warranty, Ridgid LSA, and recall protection activated.

Registering Tools Received as Gifts

Power and DIY tools are common Father's Day and holiday gifts. If you received a tool as a gift, the QR code on the tool label or in the manual still works for registration in your name. Use the approximate gift date as the purchase date. For Ridgid LSA activation, a proof of purchase is required. The gift giver can provide a receipt copy. Alternatively, if the tool was purchased from Home Depot with a Pro account, the purchase may be in the order history and retrievable. For tools without a receipt, some brands accept a declaration of ownership for registration without LSA activation.
